On November 28, 2007, Professor Brian Greene spoke to a packed house at the Rice University Faculty Club. We had a great turnout from both our alumni and the Rice community, well over 100 people, and the largest since the club re-formed a couple of years ago. Greene is a dynamic speaker who thoroughly enjoyed fielding questions and frequently made the audience break out in laughter. We agree with the Washington Post that he's the "single best explainer of abtruse concepts in the world today." The topic was "It's About Time," on the physics of time and where research is going. Professor Greene is the head of ISCAP (Institute for Strings, Cosmology, and Astroparticle Physics) at Columbia University. His most recent book is The Fabric of the Cosmos, and you can get his PBS special, The Elegant Universe, on DVD.
