Welcome!

Greetings and welcome to the website for the Columbia University Club of South Texas.

Register now for Feb 17 Book Discussion
Join the Columbia University Club of South Texas for a discussion of Molly Ivins: A Rebel Life with co-author Bill Minutaglio ’76CC, ’78JRN. Register now.

Molly Ivins ’67JRN was born into a moneyed family of Houston society, but she left the country-club lifestyle behind to become one of the most provocative, courageous, and influential journalists in American history. Presidents and senators called her for advice; her column ran in 400 newspapers; her books were bestsellers. Despite her fame, few people knew her background, how her political views developed, or how many struggles she faced.

Business Breakfast Tues Feb 16
The Columbia Business School alumni welcome you to join a few of us any third Tuesday of the month. We have a casual breakfast (everybody buys their own), discuss any business projects we're working on, complain about the economy, network for our next job, etc. The restaurant where we meet is very quiet, with plenty of convenient free parking. You can come early or late, leave any time. You don't have to be a graduate of the business school. We appreciate if you RSVP to KellieJenks@hotmail.com so we know how many to expect, but it's not a big deal. We look forward to seeing you.

Tuesday, February 16

Vampire Weekend rules

This week marks only the 12th time in history that an independently released album debuted at number one on the Billboard music charts.  Vampire Weekend´s Contra marks the transition from blog buzzband to mainstream hipster hitlist and opens up the world to a friendly and new(ish) musical style.

To those of you who don't follow pop music, the members of Vampire Weekend are from Columbia: http://www.college.columbia.edu/cct_archive/may_jun07/updates3.php
