Wednesdays, February 24, March 10, and March 24, 12-1:30PM

Meet via Webinar

Do you feel it may be time for a career change but are not sure what you would do?  In this workshop, participants assess their values, skills, interests, talents, and personality traits through helpful discussions, exercises, and career tools, including the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and consider how results apply to the working world.  Alumni will leave with a clearer sense of their career options and an action plan with next steps to take.

This workshop meets for three 90 minute sessions via a webinar platform.  Participants will need to have access to a computer, the Internet, and a telephone and will receive detailed instructions on how to join.  Participants will be encouraged to complete homework assignments prior to the first session as well as between sessions (e.g., career exercises).  This workshop is open to alumni of all ages from all schools at Columbia University.  For more information on this workshop, please contact Emily Seamone at es2756@columbia.edu.

Mastering Collaborative Competitive Relationships for Career Success

Kathryn Mayer, CEO and founder of KC Mayer Consulting Inc., a strategic leadership coaching firm, www.kcmayer.com

People who truly succeed in today's constantly changing business environment are those who are able to collaborate with peers, seniors, colleagues, and competitors.  This seminar introduces a dynamic approach to collaboration: Collaborative Competition™, which is founded on the principle that competition can be an opportunity to learn, evolve and excel – and it can be a collaborative experience.  This seminar defines techniques to master and pitfalls to avoid in cultivating "pacing partners," or colleagues with whom you collaborate to stimulate you to your best performance.

About Speaker: Kathryn Mayer began her business career in the highly demanding and competitive investment banking (Goldman Sachs and Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup) and business consulting industries (Deloitte and Touche) where she honed her unique approach to leadership and developed a proprietary strategic leadership model called Collaborative Competition™.  Ms. Mayer's passion for competition dates back to her twenty-five year career as a top ranked amateur tennis player. She has just published her first book,  Collaborative Competition™:  A Woman's Guide to Succeeding by Competing.  Kathryn developed this approach based on her experience and interviews with close to forty successful and powerful women.  KC Mayer clients have included the following:  Glaxo Smith Kline, Smith College, Society for Women Engineers, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch/Bank of America, Symbol Technologies, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Warshaw Group, and Selective Insurance. Ms. Mayer can be reached at kcmayer@earthlink.net and you can learn more about her at www.kcmayer.com.
